Chewstick’s 11th Anniversary Show | January 3rd & 4th 2014
Friday, January 3rd and Saturday, January 4th, 2014 join us in celebrating our 11 year anniversary with a show at The Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall. Starting at 8pm each night we’ll feature a different lineup of artists in a relaxed format that will introduce audiences to the range of talented storytellers that have contributed to, and benefited from The Chewstick Foundations work.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet fellow supporters, purchase artwork, EP’s, chap books, CD’s and other items produced by local artists as well as to meet and interact with individuals and organizations that have worked with The Chewstick Foundation over the years.
Through our eleven year history The Chewstick Foundation has grown from a bi-weekly open-mic to an increasingly influential organization that deploys a number of artist development programs, such as its ChewSLAM Youth Poetry and Spoken Word Club, Open Mic Jam Sessions, Retreat Series and Youth Open Mic. It provides a much needed resource for individual artists, bands and storytellers of every medium to connect socially, creatively and artistically in order to grow. The Chewstick Foundation exists to empower the individual to enrich the community in a way that they believe will strengthen the fiber of our community and see Bermuda become a more vibrant and constant presence on the world stage.
Don’t miss the opportunity to support us, as on January 3rd and 4th, 2014, they will not only highlight program participants, icons within the community and talented storytellers but will also unveil plans for new initiatives and share opportunities for how you can get involved to further the mission of cultivating pride in local culture, connecting people to resources and dispelling the barriers and misconceptions that keep us separate. Through various programs, community partnerships and collaborations the Chewstick Foundation empowers storytelling, creativity, and social justice to enrich youth, arts, culture and community.
